CSI case file #48: Snowman

Sorry for being late with my CSI:Color, Stories, Inspiration layout this week, but we had a Sizzix Festive Blog Hop on Saturday when I normally post, and then I had other posts that had to go up on Sunday and Monday. Love the colours in this week's case file:

I did a double layout and was really short of time, so it was a quick one:

I scrapped photos from when my son built his first snowman, with pretty little snow on the ground as you can see. From the evidence items I used: silver metallic accents, transparent elements, plain brads. I wrote a recipe for '1 small snowman': a little bit of snow (what we call 'squeeze snow' in Swedish, snow that you can make into a ball), pebbles from the drive way, sticks, grandpa's hat, cold hands.'

I remembered that I had old Scenic Route patterned papers that fit the colour scheme perfectly. The background was misted with Mr Huey white mist, through a new Dylusions stencil. When finished, I misted a fine layer here and there to make it even more snowy. I also stamped a sweet sentiment about snowmen bringing joy and warming our hearts, young and old, on one of the photos.

I just cut some strips of the patterned paper and layered across the two pages, before cutting down the middle.

The snowman was die cut from mat board and embossed in a dot folder (excluding the hat). The hat was painted black and the rest was lightly inked.

The tag was stamped with Tumbled Glass and then the journaling was printed on top. The snowflakes were die cut from paper and coloured with Brushed Pewter Distress Stain.

I added some snowflakes stamped with Archival Jet Black.

Another happy little snowman.

The stars were stamped with white Stazon ink on acetate and a snowflake stamp was stamped on top with Platinum ink. I slipped a bit when stamping the stars, but that created a pretty cool shadow effect.

Thank you for visiting! I hope you'll join us this week at CSI!
