Circus Layout

Hello and welcome! This month we have a special collaborative case file at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration, together with the fabulous UK magazine Scrap365. Here's the case file:

I had circus photos waiting to be scrapped:
From the evidence I used: stripes, teacup, circus accents, triangles, string and paint, and from the testimony, I was of course inspired by the circus theme (show and fun). This circus event last year was a major thing and very much appreciated by everybody. We sat right at the edge of the ring and the little guy got to do all the extra activities, such as pony riding for the first time, spun sugar, and riding a carousel. He still speaks about it often and was sad when the circus left. I used an elephant stamp and accents, but there were no elephants or large wild animals.

I painted watercolour paper with a grey wash and when dry added distressed lines with a Tim Holtz stencil and black gesso. The flags were stamped with the new Darkroom Door Carved Caravans set, designed and hand carved by Godelieve Tijskens, using Archival Ink.

The caravans are on the same set and I thought they fit well with the circus theme. I cut out the windows and gave them curtains. I also die cut a ticket strip and stamped tickets and small relating images on it. They were coloured with coloured pencils.

I used a distress marker to add rough lines around the tickets.

The journaling was written on two tags and I also added a few more photos. A little ticket was tucked behind the photo block and I found some shaped paper clips in my stash that I got really long ago.

Look at that happy face. Sizzix has a new die, designed by Dena Designs, which makes a great tassel, also fitting for a circus theme. I die cut it from red patterned paper. This is a detailed die and if you struggle with it, place a piece of wax paper between the die and your paper and it should cut perfectly. It also works great with the Magnetic Platform.

Thank you for looking! I hope you will join us in this special case file, which lasts all month.

Happy scrapping!

Anna-Karin
